Copies / Kinds Available

The public may obtain copies of criminal, civil, domestic relations / family court(divorce decrees), probate and tax court case files, in addition to marriage licenses.


Copies / Hours and Locations
To obtain copies of public records, you may visit the Clerk's Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at the following locations:

Copies / Obtaining by Mail

To obtain copies of public records by mail, please address your request to:

Please include in your request:

  • The specific documents you want to receive;
  • The case number;
  • The names of the parties at the time the case was filed;
  • The filing date or year filed;
  • The number of pages of the document to be copied;
  • A self-addressed stamped envelope or a check for shipping and handling in the amount of $5.00;
  • Your day-time phone number, if there are any questions.
  • (If you do not have the above information, it may be necessary to assess a fee for each year to be researched and for each name researched.)

    You must also include a check or money order made payable to the Clerk of the Court. Copying fees are $0.50 per page. If you do not know the exact number of pages, please estimate the amount for your check. In addition, there is an $18.00 charge to certify any document. If you are using the copy for legal or official purposes, a certified copy is usually required.

    For copies of divorce decrees...

    Please indicate whether you require just the divorce decree or if you require the property settlement or custody agreement as well and whether or not this is for a name change with Social Security Administration.

    Copies / Obtaining by Phone

    To obtain copies of public records by phone, please call (602) 506-3360.

    Please have the following information with your request:

  • The specific documents you want to receive;
  • The case number;
  • The names of the parties at the time the case was filed;
  • The filing date or year filed;
  • The number of pages of the document to be copied;
  • Your day-time phone number, if there are any questions.
  • (If you do not have the above information, it may be necessary to assess an $18.00 fee for each year to be researched and for each name researched.)

    Also, you must have a debit card or a Visa or Mastercard

    A debit or credit card will be necessary to use as the method of payment for the service fee(s). Copying fees are $0.50 per page. In addition, there is an $18.00 charge to certify any document. If you are using the copy for legal or official purposes, a certified copy is usually required. There is a $5.00 shipping and handling fee.

    For copies of divorce decrees...

    Please indicate whether you require just the divorce decree, or if you require the property settlement or custody agreement as well and whether or not this is for a name change with Social Security Administration.

    Requests by phone take approximately two weeks from the time we receive your request.

    Copies / Obtaining by Fax

    To obtain copies of public records by fax, please dial your request to the Correspondence Section, Clerk of the Court at (602) 506-7619.

    Please include in your request:

  • You must indicate on the request that you would like the document(s) faxed back.
  • The specific documents you want to receive;
  • The case number;
  • The names of the parties at the time the case was filed;
  • The filing date or year filed;
  • The number of pages of the document to be copied;
  • Your day-time phone number, if there are any questions;
  • Your fax number.
  • (If you do not have the above information, it may be necessary to assess an $18.00 fee for each year to be researched and for each name researched.)

    Please include debit or credit card number

    A debit or credit card number and expiration date will be necessary to be used as the method of payment for the fee(s). Faxing fees are $0.50 per page faxed, plus a $5.00 fax fee.

    NOTE: Certified copies cannot be faxed back.

    For copies of divorce decrees...

    Copies / Marriage Licenses

    You may obtain a certified copy of a marriage license at the Customer Service Center, 601 W. Jackson, Phoenix; the Southeast office, 222 E. Javelina, Mesa; the Northeast Facility, 18380 N. 40th St., Suite 120, Phoenix; the Northwest Facility, 14264 W. Tierra Buena Lane, Surprise. The office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

    You also may write to the Correspondence Section, Clerk of the Superior Court, 201 W. Jefferson, Phoenix, AZ 85003.

    Your request must include:

    • The full legal name of the male and full legal name of the female prior to the marriage, and the year the marriage took place.
    • It is helpful if you can provide us with the license number shown at the bottom of your copy of the license, or if you know the year of the marriage.
    • If by mail, a check or money order payable to the Clerk of the Court for $18.50, along with an enclosed business-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope, (or a check for $5.00 for shipping and handling instead of a business-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope).
